Weapons
Every weapon type
Individual reference pages for the GTA 6 arsenal. Rockstar has not published a weapons list, so only broad categories are confirmed — the ones visible in the two trailers (pistols, SMGs, shotguns, and assault rifles). The rest are franchise-standard weapon types expected at launch but not yet shown. Each card is labelled with its status.
For the trailer-by-trailer detail and the systems still unannounced, see the GTA 6 weapons overview.
Assault Rifle
✓ Confirmedrifle
The assault rifle is a confirmed GTA 6 weapon category, appearing as a long-gun silhouette during an action cut in Trailer 1 — including a shot of a long gun inside a vehicle during a high-speed exchange. Assault rifles are the workhorse automatic weapon of the Grand Theft Auto series; the Assault Rifle, Carbine Rifle, and Advanced Rifle were core to GTA V's mid-game arsenal. Rockstar has not named a specific rifle model, brand, or attachment set for GTA 6; the confirmation is category-level, from trailer footage rather than a clean close-up. In-world manufacturers such as Shrewsbury are likely to recur but are unconfirmed. Expect the assault-rifle class to define mid-to-late-game firefights and to headline the eventual weapon customisation system. This page tracks the rifle category until Rockstar names specific models.
Morgan Revolver
✓ Confirmedhandgun
The Morgan is a confirmed GTA 6 revolver built by the in-fiction manufacturer Hawk & Little — the series' long-running firearms brand (a stand-in for real makers like Glock and Smith & Wesson). Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers appear in Rockstar's June 2026 pre-order screenshots, which makes the Morgan one of the first individually named GTA 6 weapons, and confirms Hawk & Little's return as a brand. Revolvers in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online (the Heavy Revolver and Double-Action Revolver) were high-damage, low-capacity sidearms prized for their punch, and the Morgan is likely to fill that same hand-cannon niche. Rockstar has not published the Morgan's stats, capacity, customisation, or where it is found in-game; what is confirmed is the weapon and its Hawk & Little branding from the pre-order reveal. This page will be updated as Rockstar details the weapon and the wider arsenal. See the general handgun overview on the pistol page for the confirmed sidearm category.
Pistol
✓ Confirmedhandgun
The pistol is the most clearly confirmed weapon category in Grand Theft Auto VI: both protagonists, Jason and Lucia, are shown handling handguns across the two reveal trailers. Trailer 1 features a handgun during a convenience-store robbery sequence, and Trailer 2 includes handgun aiming animations in its action beats. Handguns are the baseline sidearm of every Grand Theft Auto game, typically spanning a basic Pistol, a Combat Pistol, and higher-tier variants like the Pistol .50 or AP Pistol in GTA V. Rockstar has not named a specific base-pistol model or stat line for GTA 6, though the in-fiction firearms brand Hawk & Little is now confirmed to return — its Morgan revolver appears in the June 2026 pre-order screenshots. What is confirmed at the category level is the handgun itself and that it is central to the protagonists' on-screen actions. Details on variants, customisation, and ammunition will come with Rockstar's gameplay reveals; this page tracks the handgun category until specific models are named.
Pump Shotgun
✓ Confirmedshotgun
The pump shotgun is a confirmed GTA 6 weapon category: a pump-action shotgun is visible in the shootout montage of Trailer 1. Shotguns are a fixture of every Grand Theft Auto arsenal, prized for close-range stopping power; GTA V shipped with the Pump Shotgun, Sawn-Off Shotgun, Assault Shotgun, and more. Rockstar has not named a specific shotgun model, manufacturer, or shell type for GTA 6, and the trailer shows a category-level silhouette rather than a clean identification. The pump-action being the variant shown is consistent with the series' default shotgun. Additional shotgun types — sawn-off, semi-automatic, or heavy — are likely given franchise history but have not appeared in marketing. This page tracks the shotgun category until Rockstar reveals specific models and their stats.
Submachine Gun
✓ Confirmedsmg
Submachine guns are a confirmed GTA 6 weapon category, based on a compact automatic-weapon silhouette visible in a Trailer 1 driving sequence. SMGs are a staple of the Grand Theft Auto arsenal, historically bridging pistols and rifles as run-and-gun and drive-by weapons — the Micro SMG, SMG, and Assault SMG filled this role in GTA V. As with every GTA 6 firearm, Rockstar has not named a specific SMG model, brand, or magazine capacity; the identification here is at the category level, from a trailer silhouette rather than a clean weapon close-up. Fictional in-world manufacturers such as Vom Feuer are likely to return but are unconfirmed. Expect the SMG class to anchor early-game automatic firepower and vehicle combat, consistent with series convention. This page will be updated when Rockstar shows specific submachine-gun models.
Grenade
Speculativethrown
Thrown explosives such as grenades have not appeared in Grand Theft Auto VI's marketing — Rockstar's weapons coverage notes that grenades, Molotovs, and rocket launchers are all absent from the two trailers. The grenade is catalogued here as a franchise-standard category rather than a confirmed GTA 6 weapon: thrown explosives have featured in every mainline Grand Theft Auto, so their return is expected but not shown. Rockstar has revealed nothing about explosives, throwables, or their physics for GTA 6, and no specific item has been identified. Vice City (2002) was associated with items like Molotov cocktails and remote explosives, and the Leonida smuggling milieu makes an arms-and-explosives economy plausible, but none of this is confirmed. This page will be updated when Rockstar shows thrown weapons in official footage.
Knife
Speculativemelee
Melee weapons — including knives — have not been shown in Grand Theft Auto VI's trailers; Rockstar's own weapons coverage notes that no bats, knives, or hand-to-hand strikes appear in the cinematics released so far. The knife is listed here as a franchise-standard category, not a confirmed GTA 6 weapon: every Grand Theft Auto ships with melee options (knife, bat, machete, and more in GTA V), so a knife is very likely to return, but that remains an expectation. Rockstar has disclosed nothing about melee combat, stealth takedowns, or weapon variety for GTA 6. Given the Leonida setting's emphasis on crime and the close-quarters robbery beats in the trailers, functional melee weapons are a reasonable bet, but no specific melee item has appeared in marketing. This page will be updated when Rockstar shows melee gameplay.
Sniper Rifle
Speculativesniper
A sniper rifle has not been shown in either Grand Theft Auto VI trailer — Rockstar's weapons coverage explicitly notes that no long-range scoped weapon appears in the released footage. It is included here as a franchise-standard category rather than a confirmed GTA 6 weapon: every mainline Grand Theft Auto has shipped with at least one scoped rifle (the Sniper Rifle, Heavy Sniper, and Marksman Rifle in GTA V), so its return is a strong expectation, not a confirmation. Rockstar has revealed nothing about sniper mechanics, zoom, or availability for GTA 6, and no specific model or brand has been shown. Treat this page as a placeholder for the category, based on series history, until Rockstar releases gameplay footage. It will be upgraded to confirmed and expanded the moment a scoped rifle appears in official material.
