GTA 6 Trailer: Official Reveals, Dates and Breakdown

Rockstar Games has released two official GTA 6 trailers. Trailer 1 premiered on December 4, 2023 on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel, and Trailer 2 followed on May 6, 2025. Both videos confirm the state of Leonida and a modern Vice City as the game’s setting and introduce the dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia.

Official trailer timeline

Trailer 1December 4, 20231:31Setting, protagonists, return to Vice City
Trailer 2May 6, 20252:47Expanded Leonida tour, supporting cast, gameplay-style action

No third official trailer has been published as of May 2026. Rockstar’s pattern across GTA IV and GTA V was to release additional trailers — typically character-focused or gameplay-focused — in the months leading up to launch, but the studio has not announced one for GTA 6.

Trailer 1 (December 2023)

Trailer 1 was the first official reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar published the video to its YouTube channel on December 4, 2023, after an early leak forced the studio to bring the planned premiere forward by roughly fifteen hours. The video runs ninety-one seconds and establishes the setting as a modernised Vice City within the fictional state of Leonida. It also confirms a female lead — Lucia — alongside a male partner later identified as Jason.

The trailer cuts between aerial coastal shots, beach crowds, nightlife interiors, dirt-bike street scenes, and short bursts of action. Stylised social-media captions (“have.a.vice.day”) punctuate several frames, signalling that in-game social platforms will appear in the same way Lifeinvader did in GTA V. A full scene-by-scene breakdown with timestamps is on the Trailer 1 page.

Trailer 2 (May 2025)

Trailer 2 premiered on May 6, 2025 and runs for two minutes and forty-seven seconds. It expands on Trailer 1’s footage with longer character beats — including extended dialogue scenes between Jason and Lucia — and a wider tour of Leonida, covering Keys-inspired southern islands, the swamp interior, and rural panhandle areas in addition to Vice City proper.

Trailer 2 also introduces several supporting characters, including an older man shown beside a pickup truck early in the video, and closes on a series of action set pieces including a cargo-aircraft sequence. Gameplay-adjacent footage — first-person vehicle interiors, gunplay, and stunts — is noticeably more prominent than in the 2023 reveal. A scene-by-scene breakdown is on the Trailer 2 page.

What the trailers have confirmed

Taken together, the two trailers have confirmed the following:

  • Setting: The state of Leonida, with Vice City as the primary urban centre.
  • Protagonists: Jason and Lucia, the first dual playable leads in the series since the GTA V trio.
  • Time period: Modern day, indicated by smartphones, contemporary vehicles, and social-media UI elements.
  • Platforms at launch: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, per the Rockstar Games product page. A PC version has not been announced.
  • Publisher: Take-Two Interactive, under the Rockstar Games label.

Both trailer descriptions on Rockstar’s YouTube channel state that footage is captured from in-engine sequences. Final retail content may differ from individual shots shown.

View counts and reception

Trailer 1 was widely reported as the most-viewed non-music YouTube video within its first twenty-four hours of release in December 2023, a figure Take-Two Interactive subsequently referenced in investor communications. Trailer 2’s first-day performance was reported in the same range. Current rolling view counts can be checked directly on YouTube via the embedded videos on each trailer page.

Status and what to watch next

As of May 2026, Trailer 2 remains the most recent official video for Grand Theft Auto VI. Any future trailers, gameplay reveals, or feature deep-dives will be added to this hub as they are published. For frame-level analysis, character identification, and confirmed locations from each video, see the dedicated Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 pages.
